Our First Completed Blanket!
This past week, I finished seaming together 18 of our squares to make a blanket for a member of the Knitting Help Forum that needs our encouragement. He just recently lost his mother. :(
He's a truck driver, and sleeps in his truck a lot. So, I asked him what size the blanket would need to be in order to fit his truck. "40 by 80 inches" he said.
After seaming together the squares, I added a crochet border, using different yarns from my stash. It all goes together very nicely! :)
Here's the completed blanket:

I really like the way the border turned out:

Another Blanket Being Donated
Another of our Knitting Help Forum members is needing our encouragement. Usually, we send shawls to forum members, but this particular person is allergic to wool. So, I'll be putting together a lapghan for her, using acrylic squares.
More details later!

Making Our First Blanket
I have found a recipient for one of our "Many Colors" blankets. His mother just died from cancer, and he is a prolific member of the Knitting Help Forum. He is a truck driver, and blogs about his knitting. We all care a great deal about him, so we wanted to make something that he could use in his truck.
I asked him what size a blanket would need to be to fit the bed in his truck, and also for his color preferences. He chose earthtones, blues and greens. I'm using several of the squares that have already been donated, and they look great together!
Today, I went to Michaels and bought some Red Heart Super Saver in a pretty blue variegated color to use for the seaming and border. I think it will work very well.

Stay posted for photos of the assembled blanket. :)
